I don’t know about you if you work from home but working from my house can become overwhelming. When Charlie was little, I would set breaks so I could check on Charlie. Which is why this is my circus and my Monkes, and the circle remains unbroken as I’ve kept this time for myself, Charlie and I. Or when during the time I date myself or did I date my husband.
This is the time we would go for walks to the park or play outside as I made lunch and everyone knew this was MOM RESET ZONE. Even though Charlie is grown now, I still work from home and I teat this time as me-time.
I may watch a show or two or do a couple survey’s or play a game of two. Call a friend or go for a walk with my water in hand. If David is home, we treat it as “date-time” and we do something together. Sometimes Charlie and I do a lunch date. No, matter what happens in this time I come first always.
If your home is like mine and at noon, the house has shifted again — not loud, not quiet, just… in between. The dogs are napping, Gerald’s is catnapping and watching more Westerns and the morning rush has finally loosened its grip. This is the hour moms rarely get credit for — the reset hour — where I breathe, regroup, and remind myself I’m more than the chaos I manage.
I pull together a quick $5 lunch because feeding myself shouldn’t feel like a luxury. C’s out working, David’s checking in, and I’m finally sitting down with my water bottle, planner, and a moment that belongs to me. No, one else.
This is where faith meets practicality. Where grace meets groceries. Where chaos meets chicken wraps.
And honestly? It’s where moms remember they’re human.
