⭐❤️As we move through Monday I wanted to share another post for Faith, Grace & Chaos: A Prayer as the Circle Remains Unbroken Because This Is My Circus and These Are My Monkies and today is “Laundry, Lists & Letting Go”
By 10 AM, in my home the house has shifted into its second wind — I like to call 10am the “reset hour.” The breakfast dishes are rinsed or are they, the bills are stacked, and the laundry basket is overflowing like it’s trying to win an award for “Most Dramatic Monday Prop.” Even though laundry is Sunday because David is off and can take them to the laundry mat for me.
I stand here with my cold coffee for the third time, staring at the to‑do list I wrote last night:
- Groceries
- Blog Post
- Me time (which always gets bumped to “maybe tomorrow”)
The dogs are finally quiet, curled up like they’ve worked a full shift. Gerald is searching the tv for a new Western because we all know there is nothing but Westerns to watch. I hear a hymn in my head I heard growing up in my grandmother’s kitchen. C is out working, building his confidence one job at a time. Davids already texted twice to check on me. because that’s who he is — steady, thoughtful, and always making sure I’m not carrying the world alone.
I found some towels that need put away from last week’s laundry, then a shirt that somehow ended up in the basket even though I thought David wore it yesterday. Laundry is funny like that — it’s the chore that never ends, but also the one that keeps you grounded. It’s proof that life is still happening. People are still here. Love is still moving through the house.
I sip my coffee and whisper, “Lord, help me reset my spirit the way I reset this house.” Because sometimes the mess isn’t the problem — it’s the pace. And grace shows up when you slow down long enough to breathe.
🙏 The Prayer
“Lord, thank You for the reset moments — the quiet between the chaos. Thank You for laundry that reminds me of the people I love, for lists that keep me steady, and for the strength to start again. Help me find peace in the ordinary, joy in the small things, and grace in every undone task. Amen.”
