Earlier in the week I finished reading Felicia’s Favorites by Danielle Steel. I must tell you this book ended up being one of those books I feel in love with. The story captured my attention from the first page to the last page. I didn’t want it to end.

This is one of the books that became very hard to put down. The story shifted from something I was casually picking up and setting down into something I wanted to keep returning to. I had to keep reminding myself I had things to do, and the book would be here when I came back.
What really made this story work for me were the sisters. All of them different but interesting in their own way. The girls had the kind of personality where you could actually imagine knowing them in real life or even being friends with them. They didn’t feel distant or flat—each sister and even the mom felt like real people with real connections to each other.
My favorite storyline was the youngest sister in the wheelchair. I really liked how her character grew through the story, especially how she worked through her fears and insecurities and eventually went after the love she had been holding back from for so long. That part felt really strong emotionally because it wasn’t rushed—it felt like she had to reach that decision in her own time.
I also really enjoyed the mother’s storyline and the secret parts of her life that no one in the family knew about. Her hidden relationship and her career added a layer to the story that changed how you saw her as a parent.
What stood out the most for me was how she quietly set her daughters up for success without them even knowing the full picture at the time, and how those choices eventually helped each of them move into their own lives and relationships. Allowing them to fulfill lifelong dreams they didn’t think would ever happen.
Felicias’s Favorites even had some surprising twists in how the relationships connected, including unexpected romantic links that tied different parts of the story together in ways you don’t see coming at first. Nothing about this stroy felt heavy or dark in the way some other stories can be—the story stayed more light, emotional, and family-centered, with a focus on connection and resolution.
Overall, Felicia’s Favorites felt like a fun, comforting, easy read. Once I got into it, I didn’t want to put it down, and it’s the kind of book that feels like it could be read again in the future and still be enjoyable every time. This book should be on Oprah’s Book Club list and part of every book club around.
