The Baronet’s Lady Biologist

The Baronet’s Lady Biologist by Alissa Baxter, scheduled for March 27-29“I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of received from the author.

I wanted to read The Baronets Lady Biologist for a couple reasons but before I get into them, I wanted to ask you to take time to look at the beautiful cover. Isn’t those Flowers so pretty? Then look at that Butterfly which I would like to see in person. This would be the perfect book to grab a cup of Tea with and head to the Garden for some uninterrupted reading time.

Before I opened The Baronets Lady Biologist I was fascinated with the lady who reminded me of a lady from an era past. From the gloves to the bonnet, she has on. I love the Arch she is standing under. Then the word BIOLIGIST drew me in which would be a fascinating profession. I love how this book is from the regency time which I didn’t know much about. Which will be a teaching moment for my family as we study this period of time in our homeschool.

As well as looking up and learning about a career in Biology back in that time period compared to today. Back to the story which one might say is a typical love story but this one isn’t it’s a out of the box love story. With a man who insults our heroine who decides he isn’t the right man for her because she knows what she wants and it isn’t him.

We all know the best laid plans can change in the blink of an eye and that is what happens in this story. As Giles falls for her first. Which is surprising as women usually fall first. This is a regency romance adventure or natural history with a little bit of suspense thrown in. This is the third book in the series The Linfield Ladies The Earl’s Lady Geologist, and The Viscount’s Lady Novelist.

Before you say I haven’t had the opportunity to read the first two novels its okay because The Baronets Lady Biologis makes a perfect standalone novel although I do plan on purchasing the other two books to read as soon as possible. I hope you will do the same thing as well as look for other books by Alissa Baxter.

About the Book:

Butterflies bring them together but will love capture her heart?

Georgiana Linfield is a lady biologist who is determined to travel the world. Upon arriving in London for the Season, she decides the best way to fulfil her dreams is to find an amenable husband to indulge her every whim. Refusing to give up her interest in natural history for a dull domestic life, she sets out to forge a different path for herself.

When her father’s elderly cousin asks her to set his natural history collection in order, she accepts his request with joy. However, the task brings her into almost daily contact with his godson, Sir Giles Tavistock, a renowned entomologist, who regards her with some suspicion. When Sir Giles discovers her skills as a scientific illustrator, he asks her to sketch his South American butterfly collection, and they forge an uneasy truce.

Their tenuous connection is shattered, however, when Sir Giles believes a rumour casting Georgiana in a far from flattering light. Vowing to have nothing more to do with him, she keeps him at a distance. But when the baronet’s butterflies attract unwanted attention, a series of events unravel that make Georgiana wonder if the famous collector might have done the impossible and captured her heart.

Meet the Author: Alissa Baxter

Alissa Baxter wrote her first Regency romance during her long university holidays. After travelling the world, she settled down to write her second Regency novel, which was inspired by her time living on a country estate in England. Alissa then published two chick lit novels before returning to her favourite era with her Linfield Ladies Series, a trio of Regency romances that feature women in trend-setting roles who fall in love with men who embrace their trailblazing ways… at least eventually. Her new Dragonblade trilogy, The Grantham Girls, continues this inspiring theme.

Alissa currently lives in Johannesburg with her husband and two sons.
