The Writing On The Wall: Remarkable story of a woman breaking through the glass ceiling in the male dominated 60s and 70s November 8th

The Writing On The Wall: Remarkable story of a woman breaking through the glass ceiling in the male dominated 60s and 70s by  Marilyn Howard (Author) is a book I received a physical copy of in exchange for this review.

The Writing On The Wall: Remarkable story of a woman breaking through the glass ceiling in the male dominated 60s and 70s by  Marilyn Howard takes place in the publication and marketing world showing how hard it was for a women to succeed in the marketing profession. I love how the author shares clever and witty life lessons and anecdotes. As someone how has been in marketing I can tell you first hand its still a man dominated world which isn’t fair and I pray that together we can change this not only for us but for future generations.

You will find out its a memoir sharing family, friendships and running a business in a male dominated environment during the 60s and early 70’s showing me things I didn’t know about as they took place when I was a child/ teenager. I enjoyed and loved how Marilyn was a true maverick and a wonderful role model not only for women but men as well.

The Writing On The Wall and the Author allows us to have another voice out there of one who has gone before. Although from a slightly different time, she gives counsel and direction that can help everyone who wants to have a career, but also seek a life outside of professional ventures. I enjoyed the Authors honesty, vulnerability, and candid remarks on many different subjects.

Meet the Author: Marilyn Howard

Marilyn Howard’s determination to not wind up a housewife led to breaking through a glass ceiling of seventy men at Grey Advertising, before launching an innovative startup. In 1970, at twenty-seven, she founded Creative Freelancers. Inc., the first agency to connect businesses with freelance artists and writers.

It operated for over 25 years in the center of Manhattan. In1983, ADWEEK Magazine of New York picked her for their feature, “The Dynamic Dozen,” those women under forty they identified as most likely to succeed. In 1997, her company became the first agency on the Internet. The author holds a B.F.A. from Syracuse University.
