On Good Friday, Jesus Christ died on the Cross, and we know Jesus died for us. But Jesus only died in human form. Jesus then arose from the dead-on Easter Sunday morning to show us that there is life after death in Heaven. Good Friday is also called “Dark Friday”. Aday of solemn prayer and the final day of fasting for the long Lenten season.

Christ was nailed to the cross at noon and Christs death came at three o’clock in the afternoon. During this time, Christians should spend in prayer and silence.

Good Friday is also called “Dark Friday”

Some websites refer to the beginning of Passover as date of the first full day but in reality, Passover begins at Sundown on the dates above.

Passover is the celebration of the freeing of the Jews from Egyptian rule around 3000 years ago. At the time, the Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians ruler Pharaoh Ramses II. God instructed Moses to go to the Pharaoh and ask for freedom for the Jews. According to the Bible, Moses’ plea of “Let my people go” was ignored despite Moses’ warning of punishments by God if the Israelites were not freed.

God then sent 10 terrible plagues upon the people of Egypt. The Pharaoh then conceded and freed the Jews who immediately fled Egypt. They fled without taking time to bake their Dough. They took the Dough and baked it into thin Crackers in the hot dessert Sun. These Crackers were called Matzoh.

To commemorate the freeing of the Jews, Matzoh is eaten in place of Bread during Passover.

Rubber Eraser Day

Stop! Put that eraser away. Don’t erase today from your monthly calendar.

Make no mistake Rubber Eraser Day celebrates the invention of erasers because we all make mistakes. This Holiday is designated to recognize and appreciate the value of that little plug the eraser. As manufacturers call what sits atop our pencils. When we make a mistake, erasers are the big “cover-up”. Make that eraser, of our booboo and just imagine how messy our documents would be without erasers.

Why not just call it “Eraser Day”? There are two reasons. The first erasers were made of rubber. Today, erasers are made of rubber, or vinyl.  Secondly, in Great Britain, erasers are formally called “rubbers”.

In the world of erasers, there are two men are prominent. Joseph Priestley discovered the eraser in 1770, using pieces of rubber imported from Brazil. Then in 1858, Hyman Lipman of Philadelphia, Pa., patented the pencil with an eraser at the end.

History and Origin of Rubber Eraser Day

There is a wealth of information about the discovery of the erasers. However, our research failed to discover who established Rubber Eraser Day. but we did discover some discrepancy about when this day is celebrated. Most references point to April 15th as Rubber Eraser Day. However, some sites proclaim April 13th as Rubber Eraser Day.

Take a Wild Guess Day

In case you haven’t guessed, today is Take a Wild Guess Day a day all about trusting your gut and your instinct. Today, factual or empirical data are useless and unnecessary, before opening your mouth. Does the thought of taking a wild guess without any information to back you up, take you out of your comfort zone?

Taking a wild guess is like taking a stab in the dark. Often you don’t have any information, but you feel compelled to take a wild guess at a perplexing question or issue. If you are expected to know the answer, taking a wild guess is at the risk of embarrassment and ridicule, if you guess wrong.

The lucky ones among us, are those that have a good intuition, a feeling, or a kind of sixth sense. Many of us don’t possess these traits. You could say providing the correct response is pure luck.

Take a Wild Guess Day encourages us to throw away the inhibitions that are holding us back. Throw caution to the wind and step out of your comfort zone and take a chance that you’ll know the right answer or thing to say.

When it comes to guessing, perhaps Mae West said it best: “Don’t keep a man guessing too long – he’s sure to find the answer somewhere else.”

On this Holiday, you are encouraged to take a guess, at every opportunity you get. Creating and playing a guessing game, is a good way to participate in this holiday.

History and Origin of “Take a Wild Guess Day”

This holiday event was created in 2010 by Jim Barber, a professional public speaker and instructor. According to Barber, he recognized that this was the day when Federal taxes were due. Barber noticed that many people guessed on their tax form inputs. Wow, that’s wild.

This holiday event was originally called “Take a Wild Guess Day” and it wasn’t until around 2017, that a few websites began to call it “National Take a Wild Guess Day“. We do not believe this was initiated by the author.

That Sucks Day

Today is a celebration of all that sucks in our lives, and in the World. Let’s face it, a lot of things suck.

We’ve all had days that suck, events that suck, situations that suck, and relationships that suck. A reality of life. This Holiday gives well deserved recognition to the fact that a lot of experiences in our lives really suck. It can happen frequently.

Bruce Novotny, the creator of That Sucks Day, established this Holiday to be celebrated on April 15th, as there are a number of major events in history that suck on this date. Including: Tax Day, the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, and the sinking of the Titanic.

We hope that this day does not suck for you, and you can always use today to recognize other things that suck.

History and Origin of “That Sucks Day”:

That Sucks Day was created by Bruce Novotny from Bandon. Bruce Novotny website speaks to everything that sucks. See: Thatsucks.net a humorous website. It’s just the content that sucks.

Titanic Remembrance Day

Titanic Remembrance Day is dedicated to the memory of the Titanic, when 1500 people died. On this day in 1912, the Titanic sank in the icy waters of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The Titanic was called “unsinkable” and the “safest ship afloat” by her builder and designer. However, on Titanics maiden voyage from England to New York City, the Cruise Ship Titanic hit an Iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. This occurred on April 14th, 1912, at 11:40p.m.  Two hours later, with a gaping gash in her side, the Titanic quickly sank in icy waters. 1522 passengers and crew died.

The historic sinking of the Titanic spurred a numerous television documentary, and big screen movies. The most recent was the blockbuster movie Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

The Titanic had a sister ship, the Olympic. The ships were constructed around the same time, with the Olympic starting first. The Olympic was launched in 1910. She served as a cruise liner until pressed into service during WWI as a Troop Carrier. She was retired in 1935.

History and Origin of “Titanic Remembrance Day”:

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this Holiday.  We found claims for this day on three dates: April 14-15-16. The Titanic hit an Iceberg just before midnight on the 14th. The Titanic sank early on the 15th. There is no justification for this day on the 16th that we know of.
