Unique Holidays: July 30th, 2021

Good evening, welcome back to our series sharing Unique Holidays: July 29th, 2021. Take a look at the Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which one you most would like to celebrate and why.

Father-in-Law Day

When is Father-in-Law Day

I would like to say David got a good Father-in-Law when he Married me but that isn’t the truth because my dad wasn’t always the nicest to David. Although, for me I have the best Father-in-Law who even stood up to his mom for me.

I would be so lost if we didn’t have David’s dad in our lives and so would Charlie who loves both my dad who is gone and David’s dad who Charlie is able to see a couple times a week. How is your relationship with your Father-in-Law and why?

Father-In-Law Day honors your loving, funny, and cheerful father-in-law. Perhaps sometimes he is a little grumpy and intimidating but regardless of his personality and charms, this day is dedicated to your spouse’s Dad. And, he certainly deserves recognition.

If your looking for a ood way to celebrate this day send your Father-in-Law a card, or spend a little time with him, or give him his favorite snack. Or take him out to dinner which is what I would have done if David wasn’t working this evening.

Origin of Father-In-Law Day:

Like it’s counterpart …Mother-In-Law Day…. we suspect that Father-In-Law Day was created by Ecard companies.

International Friendship Day 2021: wishes, Quotes, Greeting, Image, Pic | The Star Info

The world is filled with too much hatred, and too much fighting and too much mistrust of others. The International Day of Friendship is an opportunity to stop, and to reverse, these worldwide problems.

According to the United Nations, the official sponsor of this Holiday, the International Day of Friendship is day set aside to promote friendship among people, Cultures and Countries. Today is a time to encourage efforts towards peace, and to build bridges among different people. It is a day of respect for others, and a day to celebrate diversity.

According to the United Nations, on this day people, groups and governments should hold events and activities to promote mutual understanding and reconciliation.

On an individual level, use this day to promote friendship in big and small ways. You could begin by “extending an olive branch” to a sibling or a family member, neighbor, or an old friend who you’ve had a falling out with. If we all try a little the world will be a friendlier, more peaceful place.

History and Origin of International Day of Friendship:

The origin of International Day of Friendship has roots as far back as 1919 in the United States. The country of Paraguay was the first to celebrate this Holiday on a National level on July 30, 1958. Other Countries with early celebrations include: several countries in South America, Bangladesh, India, and Malaysia. Different countries celebrated this Holiday on varying dates in July, August and April.

In 2011, the United Nations declared this an official International Holiday, to be celebrated annually on July 30th.

Enjoy the day with a piece of Cheesecake, along with your favorite topping. If you have time, make the Cheesecake yourself.

The History and Origin of National Cheesecake Day:

Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this Holiday. We didn’t find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” day and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

Paperback Book Day

Reading | The Central Pen Literary E-zine

David begins Vacation tomorrow and were planning on taking a couple Road Trips and I plan on purchasing a Paperback book which is the perfect way to celebrate Paperback Book Day.

Take a break today, grab a paperback book in your favorite genre, and spend quality time reading the book because today is Paperback Book Day, a perfect time to curl up to a real book and immerse yourself into the exciting and interesting story. Fiction or Non-fiction, whatever your genre choice, you’ll have a relaxing time reading a Paperback Book today….

In today’s electronic world, Ebooks are becoming increasingly more popular. But, most people still agree, that reading a physical book is far more enjoyable. Real books have a comfortable and familiar feel about them. Paperback Books also have a familiar and pleasant smell. There’s an enjoyable feeling readers get, as they hold the book and turn pages. It’s just not the same when you hold an Ebook, swiping pages as you go.

The Evolution of Paperback Books

Back in the day…. before the 1800s, books were bound in hard cover and books were large and leather-bound, making them heavy. Many people could not afford books. Then, publishers began to print books with hard cardboard covers, making them a little lighter and a little less expensive.

Then the Penguin Publishing Company in London, England first began publishing Paperback Books on July 30, 1835. Smaller and much lighter, they were produced at a fraction of the cost of hard cover books. Paperback books, became affordable to the general public and immediately became a huge success.

Then Penguin Publishing Company produced 3 million paperback books in the first 12 months. Prior to 1835, a few other publishers had tried unsuccessfully to print paperback books. American Robert Fair de Graff was the first to create the “Pocket Book” in 1939. It was published by Simon & Schuster. It was 4″ X 6″. 1.5 million pocket books were sold in the first year for just 25 cents each.

History and Origin of Paperback Book Day:

The history of the creation of Paperback Books is pretty clear. However, we have yet to identify the creator of this day and why he/she created it. It’s pretty clear why this date was chosen, on this date in 1835, Penguin Publishing Company in London, United Kingdom began printing paperback books. We traced this special Holiday back to 2012. Our speculation is that someone in the publishing  business created this Holiday. If so, it was most likely the Penguin Publishing Company
