Unique Holidays: June 11th, 2021

Good morning, welcome back to our series sharing Unique Holidays: June 11th, 2021. Take a look at the list of Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which one you most would like to celebrate and why.

For me I am torn between National Jerky Day and National Peanut Butter Cookie Day. But being on a diet I will just have some of my Old Trapper Jerky and go work in my Garden and see if the Red Roses have come up for my mom as they were hers and Charlie’s favorite. As well as David’s mom’s.

Traditional Style Jerky – Old Fashioned 10 oz bag

The Old Trapper legend began with our original Old Fashioned Beef Jerky. We season lean cuts of real steak, add brown sugar for just the right hint of sweetness, and smoke them to perfection using real wood in our smokehouses. The result is tender, never tough jerky that will be the best you’ve ever tasted.

National Jerky Day

Jerky has been popular for hundreds of years and it originated in South and North America. Jerky goes back to hundreds, if not thousands of years before the White Man came to America. Did you know that?

Jerky is dried, flavored meats. Essentially, meat soaked in brine and a variety of flavorings, and then dried. Jerky is popular for snacks and as a nutritious treat on long hikes, while biking, and out in the woods. It is lean, Nutritious, and light weight, making it easy to carry in your back pack.

Many of us think of Jerky as “Beef Jerky”. But, Jerky is made from almost any type of meat, including Deer, Chicken, Poultry, Pork, and Turkey. A wide variety of flavorings, and often smoked, giving us a wide variety of Jerky to enjoy. .

Did You Know? Jerky is a Space food which has been on the diet of Astronauts in space since 1996.

To really celebrate National Jerky Day, you should make some homemade Jerky. If you don’t have the time or expertise to make Jerky at home, that’s perfectly okay. Go out and buy some.

The History and Origin of National Jerky Day:

This day was created by Jack Links Beef Jerky in 2012 and appears to have been created to promote their products, and the Holiday caught on with the general public.
