Howdy!! Welcome back to our series sharing Unique Holidays: March 26th, 2022. I would like to ask you to check out the Holidays being celebrated today and let me know which Holiday you most want to celebrate and why. Charlie and I think we will celebrate Make Up Your Own Holiday Day and you will have to wait and see what Holiday we are going to create and why.
“Live Long and Prosper” is a saying from Science Officer and First Officer Spock, a Vulcan aboard the Starship Enterprise from the television series Star Trek. The saying is derived from the ancient Vulcan blessing: “May you live long and prosper”. Live Long and Prosper Day celebrates Spock, and his Vulcan sayings.
How might you apply “Live long and prosper” to your life? This Holiday encourages you to think about this particular saying, and how we can make our lives happier, healthier, and more prosperous. Matt McCarthy, creator of this Holiday, encourages us to focus upon ways to live longer and to prosper. McCarthy suggest we accomplish this through better food and diet, increased exercise, reading, relaxation, finding ways to save money, and volunteering.
As, I’m sure you know, Spock was played by actor Leonard Nimoy and his full Vulcan name is S’chn T’gai Spock. While we refer to Spock as a Vulcan, he is actually half Vulcan and half human. Spock’s Vulcan father is Ambassador Sarek and his mother is Amanda Grayson.
History and Origin of “Make Your Own Holiday Day”:
This holiday event was created in 2017 by Matt McCarthy. He conceived this holiday as a result of Make Your Own Holiday Day, also celebrated on March 26. Isn’t that just awesome, one holiday inspires the creation of another.
Make Your Own Holiday Day allows you to make today a special day for anything you want and the objective of today, is to allow one day for any topic or event that has otherwise escaped recognition up to now. The topic for your Holiday is seemingly unlimited or you can make up a Holiday just for you. Just so you know there already is a “Joe Day”. There isn’t a Mary, Bill or Sue Day and you never know, the Holiday you create just might catch on on the internet.
We didn’t create this Holiday, but we are glad the Holiday is here. It’s not easy, to create a Holiday and it’s even more difficult to create a truly National Holiday.
Today, is your day to skip all of the red tape, bypass all of the effort, and create a Holiday of any kind. Simply declare your Holiday on Make Your Own Holiday Day!

National Spinach Day– always March 26th.
National Spinach Day celebrates, nutritious Spinach Greens and we all know Popeye the Sailor touted the value of Spinach. Nutritionists agree that Popeye is 100% correct!
We all know Spinach gets a bad reputation and many people shy away from Spinach and there are people who will not even try Spinach, no matter how it’s prepared. There are many ways to eat Spinach, you’ve just need to try Spinach. We suggest slipping Spinach Greens into your Salads, or you could chop Spinach up and put the Spinach into Soups, Stews, and Casseroles. Did you know you can do the same, when making cooked Vegetables?
Gardeners know that Spinach is easy to grow, and Spinach is hardy. You can plant Spinach as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring.
Celebrate today by:
1. Eating Spinach in everything from Soups to Salads, Casseroles, or Omelets. Spinach can be eaten raw or cooked.
2. If you are a gardener, go out and plant Spinach today.
3.You should make Popeye happy and eat Spinach today.
