Welcome to our series sharing Unique Holidays: November 10th, 2022. Today is Forget-Me-Not-Day. If I had my yard I would have planted this in my Garden in memory of my Grandmother but I don’t. I wonder how well they would grow in a pot on my front porch. Do you know?

Forget-Me-Not Day– always observed on November 10th

National Forget-Me-Not Day is a day to remember family, friends, and loved ones. People use National Forget-Me-Not Day to get in touch with family, friends, and loved ones, especially those who we haven’t seen in a while. You don’t want them to forget you, do you!? National Forget-Me-Not Day is intended to remember the living. But, some people have used National Forget-Me-Not Day to memorialize a loved one who is no longer with us. Which is perfectly okay.

National Forget-Me-Not Day come back year after year and readily spread out in a variety of landscaping conditions. Try Forget-Me-Not in rock gardens and as ground cover. Additionally, Forget-Me-Not look good in containers on your patio or deck. 

How to Celebrate National Forget-Me-Not Day:

  • Send Forget Me Not Day Ecards to everyone in your email address book.
  • Send Forget Me Not flowers to people you haven’t seen in a while.
  • Give Forget Me Not Flower Seed Packets to family and friends. The Seed Packets are very inexpensive and easy to mail.
  • Phone people you haven’t seen in a while and wish them a happy National Forget Me Not Day.

History and Origin of National Forget-Me-Not Day

We did not find the originator of National Forget-Me-Not Day. Nor, did we find any factual information. We find it strange, that the creator of National Forget-Me-Not Day has “forgotten” to do the necessary documentation.

We did find organizations, mayors, and other officials who have proclaimed a “Forget Me Not Day”. They were declared for a wide range of reasons and were celebrated, largely as a one-time event, on many different dates.

We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” Holiday and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.

USMC Day– always observed on November 10th

USMC Day celebrates the birth of the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps was created during the Revolutionary War. USMC Day celebrates and honors those who have served in the Marines.

The Continental Congress of the newly created United States of America authorized the creation of the Continental Marines on November 10th, 1775. It was later renamed the U.S. Marine Corps. It is often abbreviated as USMC.

The Marine Corps has proudly participated in every War that has involved the United States.

If you see a Marine today, thank them for their contributions to protecting our Country. Active or retired, Marines deserve our thanks and appreciation.

  • As your thinking about a career check out the Marine Corps.
  • If you see a Marine today them them for their service.
  • Purchase a Marine a cup of Coffee or buy them lunch.
