Ladies, make this day all about our guy. October 3rd is National Boyfriends Day. A holiday to really let our guy know how much we care for him and appreciate all that he does. Pamper your man. Spoil him and give him a little recognition for all those things that you love him for.
Why do we need a holiday to recognize our boyfriend? There are at least two reasons. First of all, there are holidays for mothers fathers, sisters, brothers, kids, and so on. Why not have a holiday for your boyfriend? Your guy is pretty special to you. While you may already show him how special he is every day, you can use today to really show him in a big way.
If you’ve already married your boyfriend, remember that our men are still our boyfriend. Fully celebrate National Boyfriends Day. Your happiness and marriage will be all the better for it.
Guys, you will get the opportunity to show appreciation to your girlfriends when National Girlfriends Day comes along.
How to Celebrate National Boyfriends Day
- Prepare his favorite dinner or, take him out to dinner and let him know it’s your treat and to leave his wallet at home.
- Take him to see a movie of his choice.
- Simply tell him you appreciate all the things he does and give him specific examples.
- A card or a gift is okay. But, this holiday is more about the things you do and say.
- Make this a day of rest for him. Do not give him “Honey do” projects today.
- Buy him a six-pack of his favorite Beer.
- When your man gets home from work give his neck a massage, to relieve the stress of the day.

Our research did not find the creator or the origin of this holiday.
Most references confirm this holiday is celebrated on October 3rd. However, we discovered a small number of references to this holiday being celebrated on other dates, most notably October 4th.
We did not find any documentation confirming this to be a “National” holiday and we found no congressional records or presidential proclamation.
Oktoberfest in Germany ends, the date varies but begins September 17, 2022
Oktoberfest is a two-and-a-half-week German Beer festival, held in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. While Oktoberfest is a giant world festival in Germany, Oktoberfest celebrations are held around the World during this time. If you can’t get to the Festival in Germany, you can participate in a local event. Oktober celebrations include Beer, German foods, music, dancing, and German culture.
It’s time to eat, drink, and be merry! The mayor of Munich opens Oktoberfest each year by tapping a keg of Beer. They make a special brew, aptly called Oktoberfest Beer, for the festival.
Oktoberfest is not just a celebration of Beer. Oktoberfest is a huge festival with lots of food, music, dancing, rides, and carnival booths. Each year millions of people from all over the World come to the fair. Oktoberfest celebrations and festivals are held around the world during this time. These festivals also celebrate the rich heritage of the German people.

How to Celebrate Oktoberfest
Attend an Oktoberfest celebration during this period. You don’t have to go every day. But, try to attend the Festival on more than one day because it is a lot of fun. German clubs and many Bars hold Oktoberfest celebrations and events, complete with music and dancing. It’s for participants and very good for business.
Don’t just go and drink Beer plan on joining in on the dancing and festivities.
History and Origin of German Oktoberfest
The very first Oktoberfest was held on October 12th, 1810. Oktoberfest was held to commemorate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (King Ludwig 1) to Princess Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The Wedding took place on October 12th, and a great horse race in celebration of the marriage was held a few days later on October 17th. Crown Prince Ludwig (King Ludwig 1) to Princess Therese marriage was celebrated annually and was known as Oktoberfest.
Early Oktoberfest celebrations were held in October. The festival was eventually moved to September, as the weather was better earlier in the Fall.
Oktoberfest has been held annually since 1810. Throughout this time, Oktoberfest has been canceled a few times, due to Wars, and once due to a major Cholera Outbreak (1854) in the region.
Over the years, the Oktoberfest grew. Carnival booths appeared. Beer became a central theme and flowed freely. Food was a big part of the festivities. Later rides became a part of the festival activities. Millions of people annually flock to Oktoberfest in Munich.
Techies Day– always observed on October 3rd
October 3rd is Techies Day. The objective of Techies Day is to address the long-term demand for tech workers. Businesses and technical organizations use this holiday to encourage students to consider a career in Technology. Techies Day is an opportunity to give your friendly technician(s) some well-deserved appreciation, too.
Most technicians are normal, everyday people. Sometimes, the office technician may be a geek or a nerd. When your PC goes down or gets a virus, that geek is a huge assest. He’s on top of his trade and can get your system back up and running faster than you can say “gigabyte”.
This holiday is for all technicians, not just computer techies. There are many highly skilled technical jobs out there that demand high-quality people to assess equipment of all kinds. Let’s give a big hand and thanks to all techies, from all fields, on National Techies Day.

- Give the techie a big “TY”.
- Give them a token gift, like a cup of Coffee or a gift card.

National Techies Day originated in 1999 by techies.com and a consortium of Government and industry leaders.
Marc Andreesen, CTO of America Online, in alliance with techies.com and other leading like-minded companies including Compaq, FedEx, and Information Week, established National Techies Day.
The very first National Teckies Day was held on October 5th, 1999. We do not know why or when the date was changed to October 3rd.
There is no presidential proclamation, nor any documentation from the U.S. Congress, that would support National Techie Day as a true “National” holiday.
Virus Appreciation Day– always observed on October 3rd
Virus Appreciation Day is today, and this holiday allows us to show a little respect for nasty viruses. Only a few years ago, we wouldn’t have given viruses or this holiday much thought. With the arrival of COVID, Monkeypox, and a Polio, we all are giving viruses a whole lot more attention, if not respect. As for appreciation, let’s show our appreciation for the progress that the medical and Scientific world is making for both prevention and treatment. As those communities work towards getting rid of these diseases, let’s practice personal protection methods as we deem appropriate.
Unfortunately, the creators of Virus Appreciation Day did not identify themselves. Nor, did they leave a record of what kind of viruses we are supposed to appreciate on Virus Appreciation Day. Human, Animal, and computer viruses readily come to mind. We sure can appreciate the seriousness and significance of both human and computer viruses.
Let’s dedicate today to appreciating that viruses can be very serious, if not deadly. If Covid has taught us anything it’s that viruses can be persistent and evolving. Let’s take measures to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and even our computers. to minimize the risk of serious viruses.
Perhaps Virus Appreciation Day would be better if titled Virus Awareness and Protection Day. That would make much more sense. When we find the creators of Virus Appreciation Day, we will recommend the name change to them.

- Use personal protection equipment as you feel appropriate. It is truly a personal decision as to what steps to take.
- Support efforts to find cures and vaccines that work against all viruses.
- In regard to computer viruses, install a virus protection program.
- Never forget the many impacts the Covid Coronavirus has had on our lives and upon the World.
