This is a review for the book Income and Wealth written by David Parker Essays in exchange for this review.

Our fiances have tripled since we moved from our home into this apartment. I didn’t think we would ever catch up without David working himself to death. Thanks to Income and Wealth I no, longer feel this way. I know by following the advice inside the book we will get out of debt. Stay out of debt and create a better life for my family.

I know Covid is still running rapid and its hard to know what to do or not do. More and more businesses are closing because they don’t have the help they need. With the world changing why not take the time like David Parker did and go back to school.

Which if the truth is none I need to do that but homeschooling a child, running a business and a home more days I don’t even know who I am. Through the book I learned its okay to feel this way and I can and will succeed as long as I don’t give up.

If you have teens you should sit down as a family and read Income and Wealth as a family. Then discuss the ways this book can help them as they become older and will be going out on there own. Discuss ways you can use the book in your own life as well.

You will find Charlie and I using our copy of the book not only in our Homeschool Reading Class but also in our Home Economics Class. If you purchase a copy of the book we can set up a book club and share what we learn and how were using the books in our own lives.

About: David Parker

For 40 years, David Parker served as a teacher in San Francisco’s inner-City schools. Unlike most of his colleagues, however, he did not place his faith and his future in the teachers’ union or the government. Instead, he simultaneously became a real estate investor and entrepreneur, as well as a jazz musician. As Parker jokingly says, “I have 150 years of experience.” His financial journey has been very successful.

A perennial student as well as a teacher, to write “Income and Wealth,” Parker went back to school to study math, finance and economics. It became clear that individual responsibility and initiative are essential keys to financial success, and that government regulation of important sectors of life including healthcare and education will always be a recipe for disaster.

Parker’s message is a positive one. He not only assures readers that financial independence is possible, regardless of annual income, but he provides a step-by-step plan for achieving this desirable goal.

“Income and Wealth” will provide readers with thought-provoking insights into the way the economy really works. It is scholarly writing in political economy, yet provides useful insights into financial decision-making on a daily basis.

About: David Parker

David Parker began his career in education at the age of 24 and served students of San Francisco’ inner-City public elementary schools for 40 years as a music teacher, followed by 10 years as a volunteer. While pursuing his career in education, Parker also became a very successful real estate investor. It was success in business that focused his writing, teaching and career as a professional musician. Parker’s career as a musician is similarly impressive. He spent 20 years as member of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra and 15 years as leader of the Dave Parker Sextet, which has headlined at San Francisco’s Fillmore Jazz Festival.

As Income and Wealth approached publication, Parker was already hard at work on his next book. His thoughtful essays have been featured in The Economist, The Financial Times and several prestigious law journals. In addition to being an author, entrepreneur and investor, David Parker is also a proud father and grandfather. In his later years, his mother Gertrud Parker – who passed away earlier this year at the age of 96 – served as a powerful inspiration, with her international acclaim an artist as well as a civic leader in San Francisco.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
