Raising an entrepreneur: What We Learned When David & C Started His Company at 2

King Gaming & Streaming Teen & Parent Series Tecnology/ Electronics Teens Video Games

Most kids at 2 are playing with their toys but not Charlie when he was 2 he was following David around as he was working on Lawnmowers and starting his and Charlie’s own company. I would like to share my thoughts on “Raising an entrepreneur: What We Learned When David and Charlie Started Their Company When C Was 2Post at: 3:00 PM CDT Post at: 3:00 PM CDT“.

Now, I have a question for you. Have you ever looked at your child and thought, “They’re wired differently”? That was C — from the time he could walk, talk, and drag his Cars laptop across the floor.

Today, he’s expanding KING Gaming & Streaming. But the truth is… this didn’t start at 18. It didn’t start at 16 when he launched his streaming company. It didn’t even start when he graduated early from Homeschool at 16 1/2.

It started at 2 years old, when David and Charlie created there first “business,” complete with a name, a plan, and a whole lot of determination.

And as parents, we had to learn fast.

C has always been a builder. A creator. A kid who didn’t just play with ideas — he executed them.

By 2, he had a “company.” By 10, he had systems. By 12 he was Vice President of TheMommiesReviews.com. By 16, he had a streaming brand. By 16½, he had a diploma. And now, at nearly 19, he’s leveling up again.

Supporting a child like that isn’t simple. It’s not a straight line. It’s not always calm. But it’s always worth it.

🙏 What We Learned

  • Entrepreneurial kids don’t fit in boxes. And that’s a gift, not a problem.
  • They need room to build, break, and rebuild. Even when it’s messy.
  • They need parents who guide, not control. We learned to stand beside him, not in front of him.
  • Their path won’t look like anyone else’s. And that’s exactly why it works.
  • They are follower. So, either follows them like B does or get out of the way because they don’t have time for drama, they have a world to conquer.

🎮 Why We Support KING

Because KING isn’t just a brand. It’s C’s story. His growth. His resilience. His ADHD storms and his laser‑focus days. His creativity. His leadership. His heart.

It is the title his friends gave him as they watched him conquer more and more video games, school, work and life.

And as parents, our job is to help him build — not shrink.

🐾 Bear & Pheobie

Bear sits beside him during late‑night edits. Pheobie supervises from the hallway. They’ve been part of every launch, every pivot, every “Mom, come look at this!” Or mom move over I need to show you something and crashes whatever I may be working on at the moment. But that is what a mom does.

📚 Homeschool Tie‑In

Entrepreneurship is education. Streaming is communication. Brand‑building is writing, planning, and problem‑solving. Gaming also allows Charlie to travel without leaving home.

C didn’t step away from learning — he stepped deeper into it.

🌼 If you’re raising a child who thinks differently… who dreams bigger… who builds before they can spell “business”… you’re not alone.

And you’re not doing it wrong.

You might just be raising an entrepreneur too.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
