Breakfast Date at Rise & Shine Cafe in Fort Worth

Breakfast Restaurants

The other morning David had to go to the Social Security office to replace his card. I had to go with him to help fill out the paperwork. Even though there are mornings when I just want to get out of the house, this wasn’t one of those mornings.

We got to the Social Security office which didn’t open until 9 like I had told David. He said he wanted a cup of Coffee and he was hungry. We decided to drive around and we found Rise and Shine Cafe. We decided to go inside and enjoy a good meal, and spend a little time together before the day got busy.

As much as I love IHOP and was honestly thinking about their French toast, we noticed that Rise & Shine Cafe was right next door. Instead of going with the familiar, I decided to try something different. Rise & Shine is a small neighborhood cafe, and I wanted to support a local small business. I think it’s important to support these smaller restaurants because they are part of what makes our communities special.

When we walked inside, I immediately noticed the fish tank. I could have stood there watching the colorful fish for quite a while because they reminded me of Finding Nemo. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a place memorable, and seeing those fish brought a smile to my face.

David and I settled in to the table and had fun chatting with the waitress who shared her favorite dishes with us. Once our breakfast arrived we enjoyed catching up and talking about everything and nothing all at the same time. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that you don’t always need grand vacations or expensive outings to make memories. Some of our best memories have come from simple meals together and conversations over coffee.

Our breakfast arrived hot and fresh, and the portions were generous. Everything tasted wonderful, and it was nice to sit back and enjoy the slower pace. Life seems to move so quickly these days, and I appreciate moments like these when we can simply enjoy each other’s company.

Living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area gives us plenty of opportunities to discover new places, and I love sharing these experiences with readers here on TheMommiesReviewscom There are so many hidden gems tucked away around Fort Worth, and sometimes all it takes is deciding to skip the familiar and try something new.

Before leaving, the Cafe I spent a few more minutes admiring the fish tank and smiling because it reminded me of Finding Nemo. Those little touches, combined with good food and time spent with David, made for a wonderful morning.

I’m glad we decided to support a small neighborhood cafe, and I know we’ll be back again. While I still love IHOP and their French toast, I’m happy we chose Rise & Shine Cafe that morning. Sometimes stepping outside our routine leads to discovering new favorites.

Do you have a favorite local breakfast spot? I’d love to hear about it because we’re always looking for new places to visit around Fort Worth.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
