Family Time Doesn’t Need a Plan or a Price Tag

Families Shopping

I don’t know about in your home, but this Sunday morning looks a little different because life has already been moving. Usually, David would have been at work but with his dad’s health scare yesterday David was off.

That was the LORD preparing us for the honey-do’s David needed to do at his moms this morning. I had barley finished my cup of Coffee before we were heading out to the door to head over to David’s mom’s, to handle things and help his mom.

And even in the middle of everything, I keep noticing the same thing—family time doesn’t have to be planned or perfect to matter. Yesterday, David, Gerald, Debbie, and I still found moments together. No phones. No distractions. Just being present.

We ended up walking through Sam’s Club just to get out of the house, checking out a few things, and moving through the day together. It wasn’t about shopping—it was just about being together. Trying all the samples they had out. Including Beer which David missed out on.

Debbie and I also stopped to refill my water bottle at the Water Fountain. Filling up the 1/2 gallon was $1.50 cheaper than grabbing a bottle of water at the convenience store, but it wasn’t really about the cost—it was just part of life happening while we were out.

And we made a quick stop at 7-Eleven for a drink too. Did you know their Big Gulp with their app is only $59 cents right now? Nothing fancy. Just a small pause in a full day. And that’s what stood out to me again.

Family time doesn’t have to be planned.
It doesn’t have to cost money.
It doesn’t have to look perfect.

Family time can happen anywhere life takes you. What matters is that we were together. What did you do this weekend?

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
