Life at Home: Working Schedules, Quiet Moments, and Adjusting to a Busy Season

Families

I thought when Charlie got a job things would get easier but as much as I hate to admit it that hasn’t been the case. The Bradley is here more than ever which upsets Gerald and I have no, idea why. David is busier than even working his job and doing honey-do’s for his clients and picking the boys up from work.

Life at home for me has gotten harder as I try and keep track of everyone’s schedule why trying to work my own business. There is more quit moments which is nice but its hard to get used to them and to adjust to a busy season both in life and in work as well.

I wanted to remind you not every season of life looks the same, and right now our home is in a very working-heavy season. With David at work, Charlie at work, and Bradley working long shifts, the house has become quieter during the day. You would think I could get more work done but that isn’t the case.

We’ve got a extra dog staying here so now I have to take Gunner, Pheobie and Bear out for breaks. Deal with the things Gerald needs and also with my sister when she comes to visit. Here visit is nice because the quiet can feel strange. But over time, it becomes its own kind of rhythm.

Gerald and I spent the morning just doing normal things—including loading the dishwasher and moving through the day slowly. There’s something peaceful about not rushing through every moment. Even when life is busy on the outside, the inside of the home can still stay steady.

I’ve learned that you don’t always need a full house to feel connected to your family. Sometimes connection looks like knowing where everyone is, what they’re working toward, and why they’re doing it. This season is not easy, but it is purposeful. And purpose sometimes feels like quiet mornings and simple routines. As I watch everyone learn there places in this thing called life.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
