Riverside Arts District, Grocery Runs, and Life Getting Back in Order

Attractions

A couple weeks ago, David and I headed down to the Riverside Arts District just to get out of the house for a bit, but our Road Trip turned into one of those full “getting life back in order” kind of days without us even planning it that way. But it was fine because we were able to spend one on one time together and I got my steps in for once.

We walked around, took in the murals, and just enjoyed being out together. There’s something about those small local trips that resets your whole mindset. Looking around wasn’t rushed, and it wasn’t scheduled—it was just taking a breath and moving at a slower pace for once.

After spending time in Riverside, David and I headed over to Walmart to grab groceries. It started off as a quick stop, but of course it turned into a full walk-through the aisles. We stocked up on essentials, grabbed household items, and picked up snacks for the upstairs coffee and snack bar area at home. Those little extras always make the house feel more put together than it really is.

Sometimes it’s not the big plans that help reset everything—it’s the everyday errands, the simple stops, and the quiet moments in between. Just getting what we need, checking things off the list, and slowly feeling like life is falling back into place again.

When we finally made it back home, we worked around the house a bit and started on dinner. For once, everyone was home at the same time, and we actually sat down together and ate. No rushing, no juggling schedules—just a simple family meal together, which honestly felt like a win in itself.

After dinner, everyone drifted into their usual spots. Charlie headed to his room as he waited for Bradley to show up, Gerald settled back on the couch. I ventured out to get a few more steps in. Then David and I decided to go get a Snow cone before calling it a night.

Then David and I came back home, we walked back into the house feeling a little more relaxed, and just enjoyed the rest of the evening at home— David in the man cave and me upstairs watching tv as everything was settling back into place again.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
