Welcome to Taco Tuesday: Noon–2 PM Real Life in Our Home this includes a #recipe which we shared on #TheMommiesReviews.com. What is your favorite way to have Tacos and why? Come and share the recipe with us.

Noon in our home isn’t quiet — it’s lived‑in, loud, and full of the kind of chaos that only makes sense to the people who live here. The dogs have been walked, the water bottles are filled, and everyone has drifted into their corners like planets in our little universe. David is home sometimes by now, claiming the dining room for his TV time. Gerald’s stretched out on the couch, listening to the world move around him. And C? Well… he’s doing whatever C does at noon, which usually involves snacks, gaming, or disappearing until he needs something.

Me? I slip back into my room with my laptop like I’m hiding from the world. It’s the only quiet space left, and even that’s debatable. I try to finish work before the next round of “Mom, where’s the…?” starts echoing down the hallway.

The chalkboard in the kitchen still has my morning scribbles on it — Taco meat thawing, coffee brewing, mom hiding. And honestly, that’s the most accurate summary of my life right now. The smell of lunch is drifting through the house, and the dogs are doing their post‑walk patrols like tiny security guards.

Noon isn’t peaceful here. It’s real. It’s ours. And somehow, it’s exactly what keeps our circle unbroken and these Monkes from running away.

TACO TUESDAY RECIPE (INSIDE THE POST)

Easy Skillet Taco Meat Feeds the whole house without breaking the budget.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey your choice
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade) we usually use Ol El Paso but have used Store Brands
  • 1 cup water
  • Tortillas or taco shells again we use Ol El Paso Hard & Soft Taco but we have used Store Brand
  • Shredded Cheese we use Kraft or Store Brand Mexican Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Salsa, we use Pace most of the time, but they will use whatever is on sale
  • Daisy Sour Cream
  • Whatever toppings your family actually eats including Onions which is no, Bueno in my home. How about yours?

Instructions:

  1. Brown the meat in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Drain if needed.
  3. Add seasoning + water.
  4. Simmer until thick.
  5. Serve with tortillas and toppings.
  6. Let everyone build their own — less work for you.

Mom Tip: If you’re feeding teens, double it. If you’re feeding Gerald, hide a plate for yourself for lunch and remember to make David a plate or he will eat a Hot Dog because he is afraid there isn’t enough for everyone. Which is BS.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
