The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine Published by Patrick Alexander

I will be conducting a review for The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine Published by Patrick Alexander in exchange for a copy of this book.

David and his mother Granny Sherry love Wine although Sherry doesn’t drink Wine at the moment due to her Diabetes. Although I thought              The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine would be fun for Sherry because like me Sherry loves all types of books. By giving Sherry The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine  it would allow her and David to share something they love and allow them to become closer because Sherry would have to read The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine to David since he doesn’t know how to read.

Over the weekend David and I took The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine down to Sherry, and I was able to ask them, what they thought of the book and they both enjoyed the story line a lot and liked the picture on the cover. Sherry let me know she would like to purchase The Booklovers’ Guide to Winefor her sister Judy for Christmas. David said want to buy purchase a copy of The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine for one of the ladies he works with creates Wine in here home.

I sat down to read The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine because even though I don’t drink a lot of wine I will drink a glass of Sangria now and then. Through The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine, I felt like I would be able to host a Dinner Party and pick out the perfect wines to share with the meal I would be preparing.

I also enjoyed knowing The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine was inspired by the sold-out classes of Books & Books one of the top bookstores in America. I wish David would help me find this bookstore and take me to it because I love visiting new and unique bookstores and browsing them because you never know what books you will find inside.

I loved how I was able to learn more about different blends of wines and the foods that would go well with them. Along with how the different senses help us discover certain facts about the wines were drinking or purchasing. All in all, The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine is the perfect Novel for anyone who enjoys wine, and would be an excellent addition to someone going on a Wine Tour or Tasting.

Booklovers’ Guide to Wine Published: A Celebration of the History, the Mysteries and the Literary Pleasures of Drinking Wine by Patrick Alexander, $19.95

Under the careful guidance of his father, Patrick Alexander began drinking wine with his meals at the age of five. At the same age, encouraged by his mother, he began a lifelong love affair with books. The twin pleasures of wine and writing remained his passion for the next sixty-five years. For the past six years, Patrick has been teaching a sold-out wine appreciation class at the nation’s No.1 independent bookstore, Books & Books in                 Coral Gables, Florida.

The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine is based on this very successful class and blends Patrick’s passion for the culture and history of wine and his love of literature for the world’s great writers. A literary twist on traditional food and wine pairings, this book explores how great wines and great writers can be combined to enhance the enjoyment of both. The novel describes the history of wine from the time of Noah to the birth of two-buck Chuck. It explores the significance of terror and varietal, the differences between Old World and New World wines, and much more.

Patrick Alexander

Patrick Alexander-Lane is an English born writer who has raised his children in France, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, and California before settling in Miami, Florida. He has worked on four continents as an international financial consultant, a corporate executive and as a university teacher and administrator. These wildly different experiences inspired a series of short stories published in the UK by Thistle Publishing.

Patrick’s second book, ‘Marcel Proust’s Search for Lost Time’ published by Vintage Books in New York in 2009 and was followed by ‘The Illustrated Proust’ in collaboration with the Californian painter, David Richardson. Patrick is also engaged in re-writing all seven volumes of “In Search of Lost Time” on Twitter at ‘ProustTweet.’

The Booklovers’ Guide to Wine,’ based on the successful 6-week program that Patrick has been teaching for the past several years, was released by Mango Publishing in September 2017 and featured at the 2017 Miami Book Fair.

‘The Cuban Factor’ and ‘Death on the Eighth’ are the first two volumes of a trilogy set in the fictional South Florida City of Greenhaven and involve (among other things) dead bodies, bad local politics, the Bay of Pigs and the history of Miami brothels.

Patrick’s first novel ‘The Nigerian Letter,’ was released in 2015. Apart from being an exciting page-turner of a thriller – it is also remarkable for having almost no references to Marcel Proust!

When not visiting his grandchildren in France and Charleston S.C., Patrick and his wife Jude live in Miami where he teaches classes in Wine Appreciation, History and Marcel Proust.
