Yesterday was a day I never wanted to happen. The phone rang and my mother in law said it wouldn’t be long and my father in law would be passing and he would be going home. She said you don’t have to come but I was already throwing on clothes to head up to Heat to Heart Hospice House where he was.
By the time I was dressed and ready to walk out the door Charlie and David were as well. Charlie even drove us which was nice because David wasn’t in the right frame of mind to be behind the wheel of a car. But let me tell you between the two of them I should have taken a uber because my nerves was shot by the time we got to where we were going.
As I walked into I began to Pray for my mother in law and father in law and our family. As I did I remember this verse I had heard of as a child which I was able to share with David and Charlie. As for David’s family there not religious so I didn’t say anything to them.
Scripture: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
I wanted to remind you some mornings are easier than others. Some begin with excitement and fresh plans, while others begin with heavy hearts and tired minds. No matter what today brings, we can be thankful that God walks beside us through every season.
Today, I’m especially grateful for the gift of family, the memories we hold close, and the promise that this life is not the end for those who trust in Him. Even when our hearts ache, His love remains constant. I am grateful for the time I had with my dad aka my father in law but I am also grateful he isn’t suffering any longer.
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for walking beside us through both the joyful days and the difficult ones. Thank You for every memory that makes us smile and every lesson that has shaped who we are today. Please bring peace to those who are grieving, strength to those who are weary, and comfort to anyone carrying burdens that feel too heavy. Help us to notice Your blessings even in the middle of life’s hardest moments.
Guide our words, our actions, and our hearts today. May we show kindness to those around us and never take for granted the precious gift of another day. Dear LORD please keep Nancy the lady I meet at Heart to Heart in your thoughts today and her father in law as she deals with his passing as well.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
I hope your Tuesday is filled with unexpected blessings, small moments of joy, and reminders that you are never alone.
Grateful, Thankful & Blessed,
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
